Attending an addiction treatment program like ours starts you on the road to recovery, but an aftercare program helps keep you on that road long after you leave facility's doors. Aftercare programs are essential to someone who is not only looking to get sober, but for someone who is looking to maintain sobriety as well. Continued addiction treatment by using aftercare planning can nearly double your chance of remaining sober. For example, having an aftercare plan allows the client to know what to do when they are about to relapse or in a situation with drugs and/or alcohol around. At Laguna View Detox, we provide an aftercare plan that will help guide you on the road to recovery long after you leave our doors.
Planning for Long-term Success in Recovery — Aftercare Planning
The initial phase of addiction treatment ranges from 30 to 120 days depending on the program and typically consists of medical detoxification and residential inpatient treatment, all in the comfort of a structured facility. The structured nature of these programs simplifies the detox process and helps the client begin to understand the underlying reasons for their addiction. During their stay in rehab, each one of our clients will receive an individualized aftercare program — an aftercare program that they can use in long after they exit our facility clean and sober. Aftercare takes numerous forms. It includes social support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous, outpatient therapy, or other treatment types. Regular participation in these programs will help the newly sober alcoholic or drug addict reduce their probability of relapse. Aftercare, combined with total abstinence from alcohol and other drugs during this period of time, helps break the addiction cycle.

Going through rehab does not cure you. An addict becomes a recovering addict while in rehab and thereafter. There is no known cure for alcohol or drug abuse. Withdrawal is the first stage of addiction treatment process. The initial rehabilitation program gives the patient the right tools to help them abstain from substance use and abuse. An aftercare program is one of these tools. It only works if the recovering addict uses it. Although recovering addicts have things in common, each person differs. At Laguna View Detox, the staff creates personalized treatment plans that include aftercare programs. These aftercare programs help the recovering addict take on the newly found challenges of remaining sober. They provide an outlet for the client to discuss and deal with temptations. These programs combine continued assistance and support with instruction.
